Take an Adventurous Holiday to the Grand Canyon

The world’s second largest canyon, the Grand Canyon is a wonder everyone has heard about. This enormous canyon lies in the north of Arizona and is one of the most popular tourist attractions of the United States, let alone Arizona.

The Grand Canyon is divided into different areas; the Grand Canyon National Park being the most dominant one. This United States National Park has further areas to explore. The South Rim is the most crowded place of the canyon and is easily accessible on automobile. The North Rim, on the other hand, is much less crowded and only the more hardy explorers hike their way to the top at the North rim.

On the southwestern sides lies the greater part of the Grand Canyon West which includes the Havasupai Indian Reservation and the Hualapai Indian Reservations.

North Rim: Sights and Things to Do

The North Rim is open only through mid-May to mid-October. It closes during the winters because of the harsh weather conditions at the altitude. The North Rim is higher in altitude than any other part of the Grand Canyon and has a naturally cooler climate. The wildlife there is also unique – coniferous trees are the main plantation in the North Rim.

The North Rim sees much fewer numbers of visitors than its counterpart and the more popular destinations here include the Bright Angel Point, the Point Imperial and the Cape Royale that offer majestic views of the Grand Canyon and the Colorado River.

Hiking is the main activity in the North Rim. The Bright Angel Trail is the most popular hiking trail of the canyon. Jeep safaris and tours are also a tourist favorite but they are seldom seen in the North Rim.

South Rim: Sights and Things to Do

The South Rim is open throughout the year and is the busiest place of the Grand Canyon. Wildlife is common here and the most common animal here is the Mule Deer. The California Condor is a rare sighting but is a famous animal of the National Park. Snakes and squirrels are also common.

The Grand Canyon Village, the Desert View and the Hermits Rest are all popular tourist attractions of the South Rim.

Jeep Safaris, whitewater rafting and flightseeing are all highlights of the South Rim and are must-do activities for first time visitors.

Between the two rims lies the Inner Canyon where tourists can come in close proximities to the Colorado River.

If you’re visiting Arizona, the Grand Canyon is a place you need to see before leaving because you won’t see a canyon like this anywhere else in the world.

Make your next European getaway an extravagant experience in Crete, Greece

Crete is a magical destination in Greece, hosting a wide range of natural settings like white- sand and other splendid beaches, ancient treasures, vibrant cities, white mountains and dreamy villages. It is a charming harbor that has undeniably artistic landscapes.

Crete is the largest and most populous of the Greek islands, 88th largest island in the world and the 5th largest in the Mediterranean Sea. It has been a host to brilliant civilizations, glorious beaches, impressive mountains, fertile valleys and steep gorges.

As per mythological beliefs, it was in a cave in Crete where Goddess Rhea hid the new born Zeus, to save him from Cronus. The capital of Crete, Heraklion, is home to the renowned Archaeological Museum and Knossos, a Bronze age settlement.

While in Crete, you can drive along Europe’s longest gorge or cycle among orchards on the Lasithi Plateau or even hike to famous caves. You can enjoy the sandy beaches and kayak, boat or snorkel in the crystal- clear waters. There is something for everyone in Crete.

Food is one of the major attractions here. The Cretan cuisine is traditional yet distinguished. It is renowned for its unique ingredients and flavors. There is plentiful to try here and the friendly locals are of much help while selecting meals. An average meal at Crete costs about €15 – 20.

The best time to visit Crete is from mid- May to June or from September to October. July and August are very crowded months and hence may hamper your comfort or your desire to escape into this beautiful destination. If you prefer traveling in cooler weather, September- October is the best time for you, as the heat cools down by then and so do the accommodation rates.

The nearest international airport to Crete is Athens, where almost all International flights transit are through. You can travel from Athens to Crete, either by a domestic plane or by ferry- boat from the port of Piraeus. The ferry- boats are a much pocket- friendly option. They depart every evening around 8 or 8.30pm and arrive early morning at Crete at about 5 or 6am. The ships are modern and the journey is quite romantic, but you must book in advance to ensure that you get a cabin of your own and also for cheaper fares.

Crete is a place for all. You can choose your stay as per your preferences. There are numerous hotels, catering to every type of tourist. However, it is most recommended to book your preferred hotel in advance, especially if you are traveling in the peak months.

One important aspect to consider while packing for a holiday in Greece is that, people here dress more formal than their counterparts in the United States. You may carry shorts and skirts, but limit their use to the day. Evenings in Greece must be quite formal. People here do not seem to be very fond of glittery outfits and make-up. So, jeans, polo style shirts and tops, nice sandals or flip- flops seem good options to carry.

However, then you need to make sure that you are going to pack everything needed for your trip to Italy. There are a couple of things that you need to pack, that you might not have known about. And, leaving this home, might cause some problems for you along the way. These are some of the things that you should pack for your holiday or trip to Italy:

The wrap or cardigan for women is really important if you want to make sure that you are allowed in some public places. There are some strict rules about going to places like church and wear something that have open shoulders and short shirts.

You might live in a country where this is normal clothing that you can wear on a daily basis, but if you are going to Italy, you need your cardigan or wrap to make yourself more presentable to the people living in Italy.

Comfortable shoes best for walking

In Italy, there are many things that you want to see. And, the only way of getting there is to walk to these places. And, this is why you don’t even consider taking your high heel shoes with you to a trip to Italy. You should make sure that you are taking your most comfortable shoes with you, so that your feet don’t get tired or getting any blisters.

Empty backpack

When you are going to hike, you might need an empty backpack for putting in water and food for you and your family. However, this is also handy to have your backpack with you when you are walking through the shops and markets. You might purchase more things than what you were planned to do.

And, at the end of the day, you are going to struggle with all the packages in your hands. A backpack will make things a lot easier.

One or two pieces of clothing for formal wear

Even if you don’t plan to go out at night, you might want to consider taking one or two pieces of clothing that you can use as formal wear. The problem is that the Italians love to dress up and if you are going to a restaurant, you don’t want to wear casual wear while the other is wearing formal wear.

You might have traveled a lot to many different countries, and you might know by now what kind of things you should pack. However, there are a couple of things that you need to pack when you are visiting Italy. Things that you don’t normally take with you on tours. This is the only way that you can make sure that you have everything to have the best possible time in Italy.
